Rights CoLab incubates innovative approaches to human rights. Founded in 2018, we are an experimental platform for expert-level collaboration across the fields of civil society, business, and finance. In our Business and Finance program, we craft pathways for rightsholder participation in standard setting and other global public and private sector initiatives. 

We currently have an opening for a creative, motivated, and detail-oriented intern to contribute to our Business and Finance program. This opportunity is right for you if you are passionate about sustainability and want to learn more about how to leverage financial markets, improve corporate governance, and promote corporate respect for human rights. You should expect to commit approximately 15 hours per week and make substantive contributions to our projects. This position provides opportunities for professional growth and learning. 

Responsibilities may include: 

  • Conduct research, analysis, and writing on topics related to business and human rights, specifically human rights due diligence and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI); 
  • Draft memos and contribute to project reports and supporting materials; 
  • Help organize meetings and events; 
  • Craft social media posts and contribute to developing the program’s outreach strategy;
  • Create Powerpoint presentations and data visualizations;
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Eligibility

Candidates with work experience or a graduate degree in a human rights or sustainability-related field. Graduate students currently enrolled in degree programs in law, business, finance, international affairs/public affairs, or related fields who can commit at least 15 hours per week are welcome to apply.

Ideal candidates should have:

  • demonstrated interest and experience in business and human rights, DEI, and sustainability standards.
  • strong research, analytical and writing skills, be detailed-oriented, well-organized, and collaborate well with others.

Time commitment: 

This is a 12-week internship to begin in April 2024. The internship requires a part-time commitment of a minimum of 15 hours per week and up to 20 hours per week. 

Compensation: 

Those eligible to work in the U.S. will be compensated at $21 per hour. Other applicants will be considered if they are eligible for academic credit.
