Building on the brief, How to Address the Corporate Community Engagement Gap: The Case for a Pooled Fund for Legal and Technical Support, by Just Ground, Namati, and Rights CoLab, Rights and Resources International (RRI) and these organizations convened an expert workshop during New York’s UN Climate Week in September 2024. The workshop addressed the legal and technical challenges faced by communities affected by nature-based solutions, including voluntary carbon and biodiversity credit projects.
The discussion centered on two key objectives:
- Identifying the specific types of legal and technical support communities need and how best to deliver it.
- Exploring strategies to fund and implement a pooled fund to finance that support effectively.
This workshop report captures the discussion and outlines next steps and a process for launching a pilot project.
