Freshwater Institute
Supporting Civil Society Innovation in East Asia

What is the Human Rights Accelerator? An Interview with Shawn Shieh
Freshwater Institute is a new hub for human rights activists and civil society leaders in East Asia.
In a time of heightened surveillance, harassment, and repression, Freshwater seeks to strengthen the sustainability and interconnectedness of the human rights ecosystem. We offer bespoke training, advisory services, and peer learning opportunities, including a year-long human rights accelerator program.
Based in Taiwan, Freshwater nurtures a locally grounded, sustainably resourced civil society that can hold state and corporate actors to account for human rights abuses.
