Join Rights CoLab, Pacto Global Rede Brasil, and ESG Inteligente for an interactive workshop exploring how Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence (HREDD) is a cornerstone of financial materiality for investors. As new regulations worldwide usher in a new era of corporate accountability, this session will focus on the investor case for integrating HREDD into investment decisions and introduce practical tools for doing so.

This workshop will:

  • Discuss investor expectations for information on HREDD – in particular, consider the Latin American landscape of HREDD readiness and investor priorities
  • Explore the financial materiality of HREDD and the extent to which it is already present – and can be more explicit – in the ISSB standards.
  • Introduce the HREDD Precision Tools, now available in Portuguese and Spanish, as well as English
  • Provide hands-on experience with tools designed to help investors assess the quality of portfolio company HREDD practices

The session will discuss a new publication “A Roadmap for Integrating Human Rights into ISSB Standards,” feature presentations from HREDD experts and investors, and provide the opportunity to interact with tools to support implementation strategies.

About the Investor HREDD Precision Tools

In response to the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive which mandates human rights and environmental due diligence (HREDD), Rights CoLab, EIRIS Foundation, Principles for Responsible Investment, Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR)/Investor Alliance for Human Rights (IAHR), the Responsible Contracting Project of Rutgers Law School, Workforce Disclosure Initiative, and ESG Inteligente are developing a suite of tools for investors. These tools are designed by investors and for investors to help them discern the quality of HREDD of their portfolio companies. Each precision tool addresses a pain point in HREDD for companies, i.e. key challenges companies face in their human rights and environmental due diligence.

A dedicated website has been launched to provide investors with a one-stop shop for HREDD evaluation tools with easy access and usability, each aligned with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the OECD Guidelines on Responsible Business Conduct. Each tool clearly defines the significance of the criteria or issue, an explanation of why investors  should care, and examples of what investors should look for. Three tools are now available: Red Flags in Sustainability Initiatives, Responsible Contracting, and a Stakeholder Engagement Guide.
