In June 2023, we hosted our first RINGO Community Gathering. These quarterly online events are a key part of our engagement strategy, and provide a space for you as our community to share your learnings and ideas, connect with others and explore synergies – and be inspired to take action!

We know that RINGO is just one of many initiatives working towards a civil society where power and resources are shared at the local, national and international levels, and during these events we will explore how innovations from within and beyond RINGO are addressing key barriers to change in the system.

Our first Community Gathering focused on language inclusivity, and we welcomed guest speakers to discuss innovations and explore how this community can take steps to break down this barrier to systemic change:

  • Dr Moses Isooba introduced a Lexicon Checklist from the Language and Lexicon RINGO prototype as an interim tool to check your communication while their website is being developed. He is looking for people to join the prototyping team, in particular those who can provide technical support – please email info@ringoproject.org to be connected.

  • Alex Ross gave us a demonstration of the Talk to Loop website and feedback platform, where members can choose to communicate in one of fifteen languages using their preferred mode of communication, including audio and video options. Contact Alex via the website for more information.

  • Masarat Daud discussed the need to ensure our communications do not reinforce harmful stereotypes, as part of the Authentic Storytelling Pledge for Change. Sign up as a signatory or a supporter here.
