While donor and government funding of legal empowerment is important, organizations need to adopt hybrid models of financing, balancing risk and improving efficiency by using several models at once. With the idea of hybrid funding in mind, there are many options for alternative revenue sources, including: 1) social enterprise models sourcing contributions by users; 2) local community contributions; 3) side enterprises; 4) building investments to provide an ongoing return; and 5) required corporate contributions. Finally, there also needs to be more focus on reducing costs through unbundling, and utilising technology to deliver legal assistance more efficiently.
